The Don & Jane Klein Endowment Fund was established to ensure that Don and Jane's commitment to family, community, and helping others would continue for generations to come.
Since 2008, the Endowment Fund has awarded 41 scholarships to deserving local high school seniors, helping students take the next step toward college, career training, and their future.
For the Klein family, each scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It represents an opportunity to encourage a young person, recognize their hard work, and continue Don and Jane's lifelong tradition of giving back to the community they loved.
The annual Don & Jane Klein Memorial Golf Tournament has become an important part of carrying that legacy forward.
Through the incredible generosity of our golfers, sponsors, volunteers, friends, and community partners, the tournament has raised more than $197,000 for the Don & Jane Klein Endowment Fund and local Parkinson's-related charities.
What began as a way for family and friends to remember two very special people has grown into an annual tradition of friendship, fun, and giving back.
And every year, that legacy gets a little bigger.
A few years ago, the Don & Jane Klein Endowment Fund began a partnership with the Parkinson's Exercise and Wellness Center (PEWC). Of everything we have been fortunate enough to be part of over the past 19 years, this partnership has become one of the most meaningful and rewarding.
For our family, the connection to Parkinson's is personal. Our dad, Don, lived with Parkinson's disease, and we saw firsthand the challenges it can bring—not only for the person living with the disease, but for the entire family. When we first became involved with PEWC and saw the work being done there, we couldn't help but think:
We wish a place like this had been available when Dad was alive.
PEWC is more than a place to exercise. It's a place where people living with Parkinson's can work to maintain their strength, mobility, independence, and confidence. Just as importantly, it's a community where participants and their families find encouragement, friendship, understanding, and hope. Seeing the difference PEWC makes in people's lives made supporting its mission an easy decision for our family.
Each year, a portion of the proceeds from the Don & Jane Klein Memorial Golf Tournament is donated to PEWC. Knowing those dollars are helping people facing some of the same challenges our dad faced makes this partnership especially meaningful to us.
We can't change the fact that PEWC wasn't there for Dad.
But through his legacy, we can help make sure it's there for someone else's dad, mom, husband, wife, grandparent, family member, or friend.
And that has become one of the greatest rewards of everything we've accomplished in Don and Jane's memory.
None of this happens without the people who support us. Whether you participate in the golf tournament, become a sponsor, make a donation, volunteer your time, or simply help spread the word, you are helping continue Don and Jane's legacy.
Every contribution helps us provide opportunities for local students and support individuals and families affected by Parkinson's disease.
41 Scholarships. More than $197,000 raised. Countless lives touched. And we're just getting started.
From our family to yours, thank you for helping us continue the legacy of Don and Jane Klein.
